Limestone Green Metallic 73-79's
#31
It seems ford had a bunch of different green colors in the 70's. Mine was some kind if special order color, but I've seen a few similar around the west. Everybody thinks it was a forest service truck but not so.
It's a 77, all stock, 351m, 4speed. The cam gear is chewed up right now and it keeps loosing timing. Trying to figure out what to do.
But I still like to look at it.

As for that 77, slap a timing chain and gears in it, and get another 100K miles out of it. These trucks just beg to be driven, and doing that rewards the driver with one of life's simplest pleasures.

I am out of town with work right now and won't be home for a few days, but I will check it when I get home. Thanks

I agree, back in the 70's there were all kinds of exterior and interior color combinations. Now days it seems that the interior choices are either gray or saddle and only a handful of exterior colors.
And try to "special order" a new vehicle.

I agree Rouge_Wulff. I think your the first guy that's not told me to rebuild to a 400 or put in a 460. I've had the truck a while and have Been driving the heck out of it. It's a truck, and I just want it to start and get me down the road with some good tunes playing through the crappy speakers.
The fun for me is rolling the windows down and making my sweet wife sit in the middle next to me.

I drove a 300 powered truck for 16.5 years. Everyone kept telling I should swap in this or that V8, but the old six just ran great, no smoke or oil leaks.
I did just pull it out about a month ago, but it developed an ominous rattle in the piston/rod area. I would have just fixed it, but ran across a sweet deal on a 5.9L Cummins. Whats better than a solid old inline 6 gas engine? An inline 6 diesel......

The color of money! Paint code is UM, don't know the color name. Doesn't look as good in person but still very impressive for 40 year old original paint. I was going to paint her charcoal grey with shiny wheels, the more I look at it the more I like it original, leaving the paint untouched. Just ordered 16x8" plain steel wheels, painting them off white, with 35" tires (truck has been lifted 5" since this photo). Can't handle the funky green interior though, will be switched to black.
