So need advice my 78 f150 frankentruck with a 84 351w is getting a weiland 2p-180 intake same as a action plus 8004. And a 600 cfm holley carb. Anyway the truck is still running the stock coil,dizzy and duraspark box. Is the stock setup gonna be able to keep up with the upgraded intake/carb. I'm of course not looking to upgrade the ignition system this is a beater and the old 2bbl intake was shot I had the 4bbl setup sitting around so I figured time to change


Also any cheap ignition upgrade ideas

 

Stock stuff will work fine. You might see a benefit from hotter spark but it will work as is.

 

Duraspark needs no help, other than maybe a hotter coil. I'm running an MSD Blaster II coil on the system in my 77 Comet. Make certain if you do decide to get a hotter coil that it's compatible with the Duraspark system.

 

We ran a MSD built Duraspark system on our old motor and it was excellent. Now we run points with a Blaster II coil and Blaster 5900 box.

I'd say leave it and run the Blaster II coil.
