30k miles and they are at 4-5/32s . Pretty poor for a supposed 60k mile tire.

Has anyone got a pro rate or just bite the bullet on some new non michelins

I did on my first set back in 2011.Have not bothered since.
You need to be down to 2 or 3/32's to get them pro rated and it seems I hit the 4 or 5/32 about the time snow is supposed to come and I want fresh tires for the winter months, I don't want to be slipping around in the winter trying to wear off those last 32's.

The pro-rated helped buy the new tire, but its all based on retail pricing and I found I can often shop hard and beat the deal.

BTW, I find that 30,000 is pretty normal for any brand of tire on these trucks if you are working them.

Wow. I just took a set off with 40 K and they had 9/32 left on the tread. Something wrong.

I agree with Painted Horse I guess, my 1st set of BFG's only got 27,000 miles.
BTW My original Michelin junk tires .... yeah, the power of this engine allowed for chunkc of the tread to be pulled off. This was before I ever started "playing" with it, this was just pulling and working/running around.

I switched to NITTO Terra Grapplers as I had heard good things about them and got about 38,000 I think maybe 37K miles. Just got another set of NITTO's about 6 months ago, they appear to wear fast the first 10,000 miles then they last for a while.

I'm curious about this as well. I've got 28K on the original set and they are looking thin. I tow a big 5th wheel but not more than a few times a year so far. I've run into this on almost all my new Fords. While the OEM tires might be rated for 50 or 60K they tend to wear quickly. Almost like the manufacturer doesn't provide Ford with the same tire they provide the commercial tire shops.

I had the same issue with my '99 F-350. Tires were wearing out 35 to 40k so I changed my wheels and tires to the 19.5" system and I was then getting 150,000 miles or more to a set of tires. I was hoping for different results with this truck, this thread is not giving me hope. I think I might want my 19.5s back real soon.

I stopped at a discount tire and they told me the OEM never wears good and he's pretty certain they are a different tread compound than if you bought from a tire store

Wow @ 20k+ and mine are still new looking -
all the normal question popup
rotating ?
proper air?
aligned?

I will be very disappointed with that life span... my Excursions got 90k+ miles out of the oem bfg's !

It all depends on how you drive, assuming air pressures/rotate/alignment are all attended to regularly.

My truck tows trailers to the tune of 5-6,000 miles/month on the interstates and consequently I get at least 60,000 miles out of my tires. If ii jus t drove locally with all the turns, stop and go, etc. I'm sure it would be far less.

I had these tires on my old Super Duty and got 65k miles out of them. This truck just cracked 60k miles and looks like I might need to replace them in the next 5-10k. This has been a lot of city driving, some off-road at lower pressures, and a significant distance with a truck camper on its back.

I like both these tires and Michelin's highway tires (M/S2)

30-40% of my miles are pulling a 5k lb trailer. Other than that I rotate every 6k miles and it's in alignment and pressures are normal, just pull the rears up to 80 when towing the 5ver
