Edge Programmer Killed My Truck

I have a 1997 f250 7.3 all stock except 6637 filter and 33 super swampers... so i got an edge programmer and went ahead and put it on the second stage (performance) all was going great. I decided that i was going to see what level three was like (extreme) and well halfway through after it rewrote my pcm I turned the key on and my cel and wts lights were on and flickering, and i also heard a clicking coming from under my truck... I immediately jumped under my truck and found out that it was coming from the box under my transmission ( idk the technical name) but i figured i would finish the program and see what would happen. I finished and tried to start my truck... plenty of battery power to let it crank for as long as i wanted but it wouldnt go. so I gave up after trying to take the cover off where the noises were coming from too many bolts that i made round... I'm guessing my pcm is trashed?

Since most of what you wrote is a bit, um, unintelligible, it seems to me by saying this, "halfway through after it rewrote my pcm I turned the key on" is your problem. You're not supposed to touch the ignition switch during the programming event until/only when it tells you.

The dealer MAY be able to recover your PCM but the Evolution will have to be fixed by Edge to retain functionality.

I learned that the hard way. I didn't totally fry my pcm by screwing with the ignition during the programming process though. The dealer was able to fix my error relativity cheaply.

Yup! Four pages of why you shouldn't buy an EDGE... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rogrammer.html

This used to be a standalone Sticky at the top of our forum, but now it is buried in the Mod / Tech / Diagnostic FAQ Sticky under Programmer Alternatives. I understand what the mods were doing by trying to clean up the 20+ Stickys we had, but maybe this one should have stayed for new folks to find easily.<O</O

the problem with all the stickies is, if they are not regulated you will end up with 2+ pages of stickies before you get to a real post.
we were asked to limit them to 4-5 per forum.
i have been on some forums on other sites where there actually was a whole page of stickies, and half the second page before i saw a real post.

Yeah I have seen that too and I hate logging in and immediately having to go to the second page.

The only improvement I could suggest is changing the Mod/Tech/Sticky title to include have "NEW PEOPLE LOOK HERE" or something along those lines.

Whenever I get into a new hobby/topic I always find the 'newbie help' thread before I go posting up stuff.
Edit: Looking at them closer I see it does have "Read First" in pretty bold font.... lol

And sorry to the OP, Edge products are bad for these trucks. You should have no tried touching the ignition before the programmingw as done though.

Oh, I completely agree. I am just wondering if there is a way we can make this more obvious to new users.

well, all the stickies are titled READ FIRST.
but no one pays attention to that, and they then ask questions that have the answers in the read first threads.

So back to what the post was about lol I was following the directions that the programmer told me as in "turn key on then press enter"
Also I called edge today an they are sending me a reprogrammer and a new programmer free of charge and overnight shipping so the problem should be fixed if not I guess I'll call then as figure something out

Good deal! I'm glad they're trying to take care of you. Sorry for getting off topic; it's just that there has been a lot of discussion on the edge programmer and we want people to find that information before making a decision.

agreed.
and if i may make a suggestion, once you get it running back in stock mode, sell the edge programer and invest in a chip instead.
