EPILOGUE - Price Opinion - 02 X 7.3

EPILOGUE -

First of all, let me thank everyone that responded to my post (Original: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post14978515), and also congratulate the person who purchased the truck. It was a beauty and I would expect that they will have a great experience with it.

Second, let me warn everyone about http://www.americautogroup.net. After accepting my price of $13,500, agreeing to take a $500 non-refundable holding deposit until the 24th, and me spending $230 on an inspection and one way non-refundable plane ticket, they sold it to a full price buyer and tore up my contract (they did tear up my check). They also were angry that I wouldn't pay $300 for a "documentation fee" that was never discussed. More than likely the buyer had no idea that there was a pending sale so no hard feelings to him.

$230 lesson learned.

So they shafted you over $500 ??

And car dealers wonder why most people think they are the scum of the earth (well...... behind lawyers ).

Technically it was $800; $500 price concession and $299 "Dealer Documentation Fee". They are stand up guys!

Not really. It is a sham yes but at the same time they must charge you for it. If they fail to charge someone the Doc fee and get caught then they have to go back to every person they have ever charged the fee and reimburse them. It is a sham, but it's one that they have to charge for if they ever did it.
