SPRING? CLUTCH PEDAL

Have 66 F100 and had to replace complete clutch&brake pedal assy. Question is: There is a big spring that came with all the parts that goes under the dash and I have no clue were it goes and the old assyembly did not have one. Anybody know were it is suppose to go and have a picture to see how it looks under dash. This truck has been hacked up to the point that I really want to get rid of it.
