I'm thinking about buying aa 1995 Power Stroke f350 7.3 crew cab long bed 4x4. It has 180,000 miles. How many miles can i expext to get out of the truck? If I'm hauling a 7,500 trailer what kind of milege can i expect? I currently own a 2003 f250 5.4 gas. Love the truck not good on power or fuel economy.

If the truck is well maintained then 180k isnt even its half life as far as Im concerned.

I haul closer to 6000 lbs and get 12-14mpg but Im lifted and modified. you prolly have 4.10 gearing like I do which brings down mileage as well so i would maybe expect similar to me, otthers on here can give you a better idea though.

There is no way in this world you are getting that mileage hauling that weight lifted and modified with 4:10 gears. I get 15 mpg driving empty. Might wanna hand calc it. To the OP, no one can tell you what kind of mileage you will get. It depends on 1500 different factors of which we know nothing about here. A guesstimate, with a bone stock truck in good running order, driving normally...you might get 10-11....MAYBE

I have a completely stock 97 F-250 7.3 with a E4OD and 4:10 gears and I just found a couple of receipts from a few months ago. I got 18.4 (empty) one time on the highway but another time I got 16.4 (empty) on the highway. In town I got 15.2 (empty). I haven't checked the mileage while pulling my 24' 5th wheel RV yet. The highway miles where averaging 65 to 75 mph. A F-350 would probably get less.

Allow me correct myself. I have, A FEW TIMES, gotten 17.8 and 18, driving down the interstate, empty load, doing 65 mph, no A/C running, and a tail wind or no wind. This is not the norm though. I don't doubt your highway mileage at all. I have seen it myself. I get about the same you get in town. My last fill up, yesterday, netted me 15.1 with mixed highway and in town driving. BUT, I call BS on a lifted truck, with 4:10 grears pulling 6k pounds getting 12-14...unless he was driving 35 mph the entire way . Don' think so. I have been pulling trailers too long to believe that for a second. I just hate embellishment of mileage on these big trucks. "Oh I get 35 mpg pulling a house" No, you don't driver. Truth be told, no one really believes it nor cares in the long run. If that were true, we'd all be asking for the formula to accomplish, and to my knowledge, no one has yet.

Looks like your a dually which wont match a SRW truck. I know for a fact I dont get down to 10mpg. 11 maybe if im diesel dumping but i watch that and try to keep to a min. For me, 14 Ive gotten on a few occasions but 12 more conststently. Im pretty religous at tracking this stuff. I also know my calcs could off due to oversize tires.

I could be wrong, but I don't think two extra tires makes that much of a mileage difference. We are talking 2-3 mpg I am still a 2wd with no lift, stock tires, no ranch hand bumpers, with all of the mods you see in my signature. So I am probably even a little lighter than you. Again, I could be wrong, for humility's sake. You must have been towing with a tail wind

I just got ....22 mpg in my lifted 350 with 3.55 gears lol I am still in awe.I get 17 round town. I might as well not own a trailer no more often than iI tow. That 8k you will be wanting more power ..that will make mileage less also.I would believe 14 or so driving easy.its all about your foot and how fast you drive.

And this is the reason I had questions about putting in 3:55 gears a few weeks back. That's a big difference than what I get....that is if you are telling the truth Aaron!!

Keep in mind that if you changed your tire size, even your hand calc will be off....

with my 97 f350 4x4 cclb, 5 spd, 4.10 gears, 315/75/16 tires, i get around 15 mpg driving around empty to work and back. While hauling my 7500-8000 lb 5er she only does around 9 mpg. IF I would slow it down to 60-65 mph, she would do a little better.
