1985 E150 Black Smoke Start, Poor Idle, Stall
Hello all. I'm working on an old lady's van which has trouble staying running. Blows black **** out of the tail pipe on initial start. So much that you can see it sprayed across the sidewalk. Run very rough. She can drive it, but she has to keep pressing on the gas. Difficult to start, takes a while. Eventually runs for a few seconds before cutting off. I asked if it surged and she told me no. I checked out the vacuum lines and replaced a few broken lines. Still runs rough and cuts off. I have yet to spray any carb cleaner to find the leaks. Its old. I'm sure it needs a new PCV as well as an EGR valve
Here are some photos. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think EGR would cause your problems. If it is stuck closed, no problem starting, if it is open it probably wouldn't start at all.

Replaced plugs, wires, coil, pcv, and busted vaccum lines. Runs a lot better under load. Still has a lobing idle, and stall. Also black sut being sprays on the sidewalk when started. Would the TFI cause this issue?
Also cleaned out the egr valve, and tried to take the caked up carbon out of the manifold that the EGR sits in.
