1986 460 engine swap to 1994 460
WOW!!! my first post!!!
I have a 1994 f250 with a 460. I spun a rod bearing in it. I have a 1986 460 engine with only 10000 miles on it. I was looking for info on swapping the long block out. I am thinking if I cover the fuel pump hole and put the fuel injected heads on the 86 block it would work. Thanks for any help

Yup, swap the EFI heads onto the carby engine, and you're good to go, might have to swap the timing cover to use the serpentine belt(not positive on that tho) but, that's about it.
And, an 86 has the fuel pump hole covered anyway... They use in-tank electric pumps(yes, with a carb.... LOL)

Thanks for all the help. I am starting to think this will really work.
As for the lower compression....When I switch the heads I will do a valve job first, If I shaved the heads about .010 or maybe a little more do you think this would help the power and fuel mileage?
Thanks
