So it's hard to get under my truck (without raising it or ramps) and I can't get it lifted due to the 2wd "issue". I noticed today that the running boards hang a few inches lower than the rest of the truck so I searched on the interwebs for awhile. Couldn't find any good pictures, so I thought I would turn to you guys to see what you thought. Getting under the truck will be way easier plus it might make me look bigger!

What issue is keeping you from putting a lift on it?

well i dont have any issue with getting under the truck. But i took my running boards off awhile back because i was mudding and they were just sticking in the mud. If you dont have issues getting in and out without them go for it. Im on 35s and i dont have any issue getting in and out though its funny watching my 5 foot tall wife get in and out lol.

dont know how much those help but there's mine with and without bars and the last is just a fun picture of why running bars dont belong in the mud lol.

This is mine without.....kind of like it but for me, 5'10", it was a pain to get in. Mine is 4x4 and I have 305's on it so a bit higher than a stock tire'd ride.

My 4x4 Super Duty with 275/70/R18 hasn't had the boards since I bought. Wife is 5'2" and doesn't have a problem. Being your Excursion is a 2wd if you remove them it may appear taller and be what your after only costing time.
