The frame on the F-350 is larger. It is a little taller, and a little thicker. The front fenders on your truck will be the same as the F-100, as the dually used the 16" wheels. The F-100 fender is for the 16" wheel. It goes 16" small fender, 17" is for single wheeled F-350, and up to the F-600. Then, the F-700 thru F-900 use the same fender. Your body is absolutely 100% the same as a F-100. The column is larger, the suspension is larger, and the frame is larger.

I think we are leaning to keeping the F350 an F350, but still need some modern safety conveniences: power brakes and steering. I got all of the measurements off of it yesterday and was thinking of a later model dually bed, but don't have one to compare the measurements to right now. May go down to the Ford dealer after hours so I'm not harassed by any salesman and get some measurements. I also need to figure if I need to swap in a later model rear axle with a little taller gear ratio (it has a 5.14 in it now) or figure out if there are gear sets to fit this Timken rear end.

I like it with the flat bed and duals. Why not just get a later model diff from a dually with better gearing. There was a thread on here very resently with a home built brake upgrade from a newer truck with 8 studs.

It is your truck, actually your son's but we we know how that goes, and I agree with keeping it the way it is. Change the gearing (or rear diff) but I would not put a late model bed on it. They just ruin the look as far as I am concerned. Throw removable side boards on the flatbed and your son can make HS and college money moving things for people and he will get all kinds of business because he will have the neatest truck in town.
