looks like an *** whooping to me......can`t wait to see what the `15s do with the bigger engines.....I`m thinking Ford is really on to something and we`ll all reap the benefits

I'm more interested in MPG's than anything. Sure, I love it when Ford smokes the competition while pulling up a nice grade but hopefully this engine will be the one to up the ante for gasoline MPG's.

If it's not pulling down a sustained 25 MPG's or better than this is all for nothing. The ecodiesel MPG's are the buzz right now and people buying the tiny smoker won't care that a Ford GTDI V-6 pulled a 6% grade a minute faster.

If I were GM right now, I'd be working on a video to discredit the whoopin' that the 5.3L V-8 just took.

Until a few of these are on the roads, and have been repeatedly tested by reputable independant sources, it's going to be a case of he said/she said. Still, looks like an awesome engine. Can't wait for towing specs to be out for the entire limeup.

Consider that in the 1980-1986 trucks, the TOP engine was the gas 460, it put down only 245 hp and 385 Tq. Now, the BOTTOM OF THE LINE V6 puts out 285 hp, and they have TWO engines that make that much or more Torque. Outstanding.

I've owned a 460, and I LOVED that engine, but the advances that have been made are stunning. Particularly when you consider all the extensive improvements in safety and emissions.

those videos were pretty impressive alone, now if they couple that with decent mpg...I`m happy with my 5.0 `13s mpg and just have to assume a 700lb lighter version would fair even better....the modern 1/2 tons have to appeal to a broad consumer base, they need to be part sport car, part luxury sedan, part work horse....from what I see Ford still seems to be spearheading the way

I skipped the videos because most of the ones I see are lopsided one way or another..nothing unbiased really anymore...another reason why I stopped watching US Top Gear. Hope this engine will hold up to all the hype they are giving it and I hope this new truck and engine will kill the EcoDiesel Ram. Rumor has it though Toyota is going to use the Cummins 5.0L that the Nissan Titan is getting for the Tundra. Going to be an interesting next couple years for sure.

I hope so too. people also forget about the price of diesel and the price of an oil change, fuel filters, and DEF compared to a good ol' gasoline engine service.

Until Toyota actually does something I'm not gonna believe any of their hype. They tell story after story of things that they are going to do with nothing to back it up....

You guys that already own the 3.5 Eco-Boost Ford lied to you both about the HP-Torque, and MPG so NOW you trust them with the numbers on the new 2.7 Eco-Boost?

Uh, no they didn't. I get window sticker mpgs and the power is awesome. Some dyno tests even show the sae numbers might actually be low.

Some people just don't know when to quit.

Did you really watch the videos? I don't put much stock in factory infomercials as they are always biased, but, I think Ford removed the bias here with offering three trucks and three drivers.

My Eco has 40K on the clock now and nary an issue. I'm getting a rock solid 20 MPG's in mixed driving. No need for me to lie, I didn't build it so my reputation isn't at risk here.

You mentioned chronic turbo issues on past vehicles, I believe you referenced a Sprinter Van and a Subaru. If these were your vehicles then the common theme is you and your abuse or lack of common sense maintenance. Frequent high quality oil changes and the prescribed or recommended filtration will mitigate those issues.

How is it that Ford lied to me, the truck runs circles around my old Ford pick up truck with the 5.4 3 valve engine and gets 3+ better mpg than the old truck, and when I get on the freeway towing my 8000# travel trailer I have to back out of it because when I look down at the speedo, I'm doin 80, my foot not even into it, so in my experience, the ecoboost is doin its job, the 5.4 as good as it was does not compare, if you don't like these engines then don't buy one, buy a chevy!

Wise decision. He's just a troll, trying to sow the seeds of discontent.
