Won't idle in gear...
I dropped a valve in my 1979 Ford F-150 351M back in 99, I haven't driven the truck since... The reason was money... I'm now finally ready to get it working again. I've bought an engine from craigslist the guy told me was a 351M, turns out it was a 400, and also turns out it was from a car, not a truck... Is this going to be an issue... The engine runs good, idles okay, about 700, no vacuum leaks, but as soon as I put it into gear it wont stay running...
I have an idea of what the problem might be but I wanted to get advice without putting my idea in any ones head, just to see if maybe someone says the same thing...
Thanks...

Yes something like that but it would be on a bracket that bolts to the carb, and you would have a plunger that kicks out and increases idle speed when in gear or a/c is turned on if you have it, some also tie into the p/s so when you turn your idle bumps up, you dont stall out during a turn, what happens when you raise the idle speed a couple clicks? bring her up too about 800 rpm and see if she still stalls.
