Alaska-fy a CA F-250: What & How?

Alaska-fy a CA F-250: What & How?
Just got a 2013 F-250 6.7L XLT Crew with 13k miles; was originally sold in CA and I'm in AK. It does have a 110v block heater, but as this is my first diesel, I've no idea what else I need to do/add to ensure operation at -40F. Advice?? Thanks...

As long as you have the block heater then the only other item I would recommend are changing the oil to a synthetic and make sure it is the correct oil for the cold starts.

Extra fuel filters on board as well.

May consider the winter front cover, if new to diesel you should do some reading on "fuel gelling".

Block heater, winter front cover, decent tires for snow, carry some fuel filters, fit remote start (if it doesn't already have it). I'd also delete the emissions systems - but thats more a personal decision.

Did the truck come with the rapid heat option?

Sounds like by the temp you mentioned you are up north, Just left Fairbanks last summer after spending 10 winters there. you need to double check to make sure heater is actually there in the block, just cause it has plug cord in front doesn't mean the heater is in the block. Put Battery heater's on each battery, use the pad type that battery's sit on, don't use blanket type that wrap around battery, they are crap and do not last. I put a transmission heater on mine as well, At -60 it will help, Remote start is a great idea, factory if equipped is crap, the 2 way one's are awesome, cause they tell you its running.
Alaska tent n tarp (Fairbanks and Anchorage) sell awesome quilted type front grill covers, they have them pre made and install them with snaps, they can have you in and out in about an hour, the type they sell go a ways back under grill and cover tranny coolers as well, a must. I bought a fancy chrome grill insert type, it was crap didnt work at all.. Dont expect your truck to keep Family toasty n roasty in cold weather with out front cover. still takes a while for big girl to get warm even with arctic front on it.
Dont panic if you cant plug in truck at times, started mine at -35 couple times and it didn't have any issues, fired right up.
Semi synthetic oils are great, you can have it put in Diff's, tranny ect.. Never had issue with fuel gelling, use the Ford additive and you will have no issues.
Enjoy AK, spent 20 yrs up there, loved it.

At -40, you will need battery pads RTV’d to your transmission and oil pan, Battery blankets/ battery pads, Alaska Tent n Tarp (Nose Cover), Fuel additive, I use the stock tires, remote start. Make your own 4 way connect box. Mount it under the hood run with the cord. Plug the pads into box. Connect box and engine block heater to three way and zip tie three way to tow shackle. This will prevent someone from stealing your three way. My 7.3 ran like a champ this way.
