Odometer question

I looked at a 2002 F250 Lariat yesterday that had a Mechanical odometer showing 146k. Didn't they all have digital odometers by 2002? It was a 7.3l also.

An '02 should have a digital odometer. One possible explanation is that it is actually an '01, but got titled as an '02 when it was purchased new. I've seen that before.

The 10th character in the VIN is the model year. For MY2002, that character should be a "2".

Thanks for the info. I thought it was odd considering my '99 F150 had a digital odometer. I'm just worried that they may have switched the cluster with one that shows fewer miles.
