Wiper motor

When I bought my 54 F100 this time last year it already had an electric wiper motor installed. What did the 54 come with originally, a vacuum or electric ? and, if electric, was it 1 or 2 speed. I assumed mine was a 2 speed and wired it that way but it turned out to be a single speed with park. Appreciate any info - Thanks, Ken

Both vacuum and electric (6 volt, 1 speed) were options. Do yourself a favor and convert over to the Jeep Cherokee upgrade (if you are over on 12 volt) (do a search on here for the info), you'll be much happier.

Ty,
Do you know if this is a good move for a 56 too?

The vacuum were the standard, electric were the option. Interestingly enough, on my standard cab plain Jane model, it has the electric wipers.... the only option added.

I used the Jeep Cherokee option in my 56 also. The setup does have to be modified from the original so it's not Plug and Play but with some work it works good. It wasn't my idea originally, just another great thing I found here on FTE.

Yes, my 54 had 6 volt wipers as standard also. I haven't heard about the Jeep option before. I bought the midfifty 12 volt unit. Easy install. Not terribly cheap. I weighed the pros and cons of price versus pain, and since I am a chicken ****, price won out.

Wiper Motor

Thanks for the info guys - I hadn't heard of the Jeep mod and the info/pics on the previous threads you cited was awesome. I'm going to try the Jeep idea. Thanks again - Ken

I just did the wiper on my 54 not too long ago. Here is the link with pics

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...wiper-mod.html

I used the wipermotor out of a 92 Jeep Cherokee and the wiper switch out of a 85 F150 that has intermittent wipers.

Wiring match up is as follows...

On the switch On Motor

Large black...power in
Black/white stripe... washer power in
Blue/orange stripe Red hi on motor
White Brown lo
Red Green park feed
Black/pink Blue park return

Black to ground<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
