Whats a unknown condition 427 worth to you?

You do when it's a dry sleeve installation. And you have to have something left at the bottom to support the sleeve, that's still connected to the block structure.

fe motors
excuse me for being blunt but the hype around the fe is cr@p. there's 1000's of them out there & everybody thinks they are worth GOLD. I have one. I just keep shopping around and sooner or later you find the realist that will sell you what you need or want for a reasonable price, anything over $500 is a wast of money. I have a 390 with aftermarket parts with a Paxton super charger. If you can't find what you want the aftermarket is willing to set you up with a fe that will kick just about anything on the street. good luck. I've got $3500 in mine and just as long as I keep it under 6k rpm I'm good for a long time. I'd never build another one, I'd go with a 460, Its cheaper and a hell of a lot more power.

Well, to be blunt if you knew anything about 427s you would not lump them in with 390s, and you would know your pillow barge 460 was always a comatose slug in factory applications, while the 427 was built to win races from the local drag strip to Le Mans. No one collects 460s.

To a normal person this may be the case.
I despise all gassers - except FE's. There is just something about an FE that turns my crank - the sound, the torque, the look, and the hernias caused by the intake manifold. It is irresistible.
I have always been a Cummins fan and have combined Cumminses and Fords to make great vehicles, but when it came time to put a new engine in my '66, I just couldn't resist the call of the FE.

From the front of the engine, the two different firing orders are:
1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 - L-R-L-L-R-L-R-R
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 - L-L-R-L-R-R-L-R
In reality, the left-right order is the same, just 180 degrees out of phase off (when you consider the timing cycle is 720 degrees).
So, doesn't really explain the difference. Cam, headers, bore size, all sorts of things make different engines sound different. Like apples and oranges, really
