If anyone else gets a red Java installer update recommendation pop-up don't click to download it!

Avoid the messages to install system updates also. I've had these pop up several times.

My monitor lit up red at the bottom and my antivirus said; "go back, dangerous virus". I didn't bother to look into it but quickly bailed out instead.

Had this happen at work already and two people had to have their machines quarantined, examined, then wiped.

Anyone who's smart and using windows will disable java in their browser. It's one of the more common methods of installing malware. Particularly on **** websites.

btw....I'm a white hat. Not a **** troll. (thought I'd clear that up ASAP in case anyone is wondering how I'd know.....not that I'm actually ANTI-****)

So I checked in to see the updates in this thread and when I opened it I received a message that my browser and video player needed updated to "the fastest version available."

DON'T click on any of these links!!!!

I'm sure this will get resolved soon.

I've asked Mac users. The consensus is Mac users can't PUT two words together in a coherent sentence.

I use Linux

Please let us know what links you're getting. We've been having this pop up on a lot of our sites at the moment, and it seems to be either coming through rogue ads OR it's coming through with adware that's been installed on user's computers.

Please do an adware/malware scan if you're seeing these!

I just did a full scan on mine and there were no problems.

The next time this happens, please let me know what the URL of the page that it lands you on, and also try to note the jump URL (the "middleman" URL) that loads the destination page.
