Just had a quick question to see if anyone had any info on installing rear speakers on an 88 f150 single cab. There is not any stock rear speakers and was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I am tall so speaker boxes for 6×9's won't work. Thank you!
We use to have a 86 F150 single cab that the POs put speaker boxes in and put it behind the seat. The only thing I hated about that was they got in the way when putting stuff behind the seat.
On my 88 F150 single cab I am going to go a slightly different route. I have two rear speakers out of a 92 extended cab ranger with the brackets that I am going to put on the seat but out of the way some so that things don't hit them.
The same style speakers my dad will be installing in his 89 F250 single cab. His came from the rears of a 94 Bronco. His also are going to be easier because of the custom installed bucket seats that I installed.
On the 92 to 96 reg cab B pillar covers, the speakers directly mount to them and requires the older cabs to have some metal trimmed to clear the speakers. The Also the seat belt loop bolt hole in the 92's and up B pillar covers will need to be "adjusted" for the older cabs too.
I think(kinda forgot) the speaker size are 5x7 not 6x9 for a direct fit of the 92 and up B pillar covers
Now to put a sub box behind the seat or go with a 8" tube subwoofer. Anybody have some box sizes?
