Brake pads? What brakes are good to get?

My dad and I have been running the Hawk SD pads on our super duties for quite a few years now with good results. They are meant for severe duty towing, heavy loads and fleet applications on heavy vehicles. Just have to make sure you follow in the bedding/break-in procedure on the box. However Hawk recommends their LTS pads for "recreational" trucks and SUVs and the SD for "professional use" only. Whatever that is supposed to mean, we never had any problems with them.
If you don't want to spend as much on pads my next choice would be the Raybestos Advanced Technology pads which Rock Auto sells for a good price.

I had stock almost four years then added a set of new rotors and weaver pads from advance auto (oem equivalent) two years later nothing but brake dust and squealing. Then a year ago new rotors and autozone duralast golds...... the paint all flaxed off them and the backing plate came loose from the rivets and made the worst sound for three weeks untill I went two weeks ago and bought new ford rotors and factory pads, super smooth stopping power no dust or noise only time will tell how long this lasts though
