Folks
I discovered the 330hd motor in my 1974 f600 needs to be rebuilt

I can mix and match parts to make it into a 391/-,,, but it gets spendy

Im thinking of another route and possibly putting a six back in it...

Can someone tell me..
Would the behousing from the 330 bolt up to the 300 I6.. clutch pressure pate and flywheel?

If I cant find a medium duty front mount I6 do the lighter duty version blocks have provisions for the front engine mount (which I would need to fab as Im having a hard time locating any medium duty I 6 stuff)?

Thank you

Bell will not match up. 330 and all FT use the FE pattern, 300s use the SBF as found in the 289-302-351w.

Thanks

If anyone has a line on a Md 300 with a tranny/bellhousing please let me know.. I will also buy a whole truck if its drivable on the west coast

I found a 79 f 600 fuel truck in San Diego 300ci.. but the seller wont cooperate in removing the body and its not registered for the road having lived its life on the airport in Ramona... the lowboy cost to get it here would cost more than the truck

Other than that Im not finding any 6 cylinders on the West Coast for sale

Ask and you may receive...

Southern California Truck Wrecking - 8229 S. Alameda Street - Los Angeles 90001

323-587-3144 ask for Marty (SoCal is closed on weekends).

This is a long time (since 1929) family owned dismantlers yard. Some parts have been there since Hoover was prez, I kid you not.

He is in Firestone.. my old patrol area

During the riots I caught someone stealing tires out of his place and putting them into a van.. I took their keys and tossed them in the yard and told them to beat feet.. came back ten minutes later and someone had torched the thiefs van

Karma.. gotta love it..

Thanks Bill

This is kinda short notice, but there's one at affordable auto wrecking here in seattle. If you need it you better move real quick! The yard is shutting down August 1st. The motor is missing the intake/exhaust manifolds and the tranny is missing the topcover, but everything else is there.

Sam.. I spoke with Bucky.. and as you said hes closing up shop.. hes checking to see what year the truck was,, and he described what you described exactly.. Im trying but Im not sure I can work this one out,,, Ill let you know

You might just be my northern f600 scout

As I said I found a nice 6 cylinder running truck but its not street legal and getting it here would cost as much as the truck

Can you imagine bringing a 40 year old fuel truck thats never been registered 700 miles up the five freeway past several hundred chp officers and a couple of commercial scales

Oh that would be fun

I'll keep my eyes open! If the truck at affordable auto wrecking doesn't work out Give Bear Creek Motors a call and talk to Bruce (425)-481-1300

Are you looking for just the bellhousing and clutch assembly? Or the whole sha-bang? Motor and tans?

Maybe you could get the Roadkill guys to deliver you that fuel truck, sounds like just the sort of thing they'd do.

Sam... I called him multiple times and spoke with him on three occasions.... he never called me back....
I sense he was done .... said the city wanted 200k in environmental upgrades

I have no idea where everything will go... I assume scrap
An f600 loss....
Thank you for spotting it

Howdy,

I wouldn't hesitate to put a newer 300+ E4OD in that truck. If you get a newer EFI 300, the ECM will possibly control the trans.

That was my second choice after the Y-block + E4OD for my 55 F600

Thanks for the suggestion... if possible I'd like to keep it old school and reduce any electronics possible ....

And so... the elusive hunt continues
