F250 Edge Insight CTS

Vehicle is an F250 Lariat 6.7 Crew Cab with Sync.

I am thirsty for information but have no interest in changing anything from stock so I believe Edge Insight CTS is the right answer, do I have that right?

Presuming that to be true, what else do I need besides the Edge Insight CTS itself and 12VDC to interact with the truck?

Any recommendations are most welcome including best mounting ideas.

The Edge Insight CTS connects to the OBDII port and that's all it needs.
It will turn on after the engine turns over and will turn off a few seconds after shutdown.

Assume I know nothing because I don't. Is OBDII port Bluetooth, wifi, or physical cable connection?

OBDII is a direct cable connection. The cable will come with CTS. The cable will plug into the trucks OBDII computer connection under the dash. Then route the cable by the drivers side "A" pillar (or where ever you mount the Edge) and plug into the Edge.

its a port above your left foot under the dash. just plug it in and pick the gauges you want to view from the list it gives you.

Make sure that you update the CTS before you connect it to the truck. It may not support a '14 right out of the box. They can provide a lot of information, but only if there is a factory sensor. Oil pressure is a good example of something it WON'T provide.

To really through you for a loop, there are some devices that come with a bluetooth connecter that plugs into that same port and transmits via bluetooth to the device.

For programming, I have my reservations about using bluetooth, but you have things like SCT's using an app for your phone/tablet. They are taking this "there is an app for that" way too seriously.

I had no issues with my CTS right out of the box on a 2014 F350. I'm not sure how new of a production CTS unit I got though.

It's always a good rule of thumb (in my book anyway) to just assume that you don't have the updated firmware. You just never know how long that device has been sitting at whatever warehouse you ordered it from.

Thank you very much, I generally assume firmware is not up to date.

Thank you kper05, I should have the device by Wed the 9th (Amazon Prime is wonderful) and be in a position to install with suction cup this weekend. Then I must decide what is to b the final installation method and mode.

I have mine next to my GPS in the middle of the windshield, even though technically it's not allowed in AL.
I ran the cable between the left A pillar and the dash (the side vent cover pops off for easy access).
This way I can quickly glance in the same area to see either device.

Received mine yesterday from Amazon and it was waiting when I got home from work. Downloaded the Fusion software after registering device and loaded updated firmware before heading out to daughters birthday party at sushi restaurant. So I am all ready to install for Saturday task after mowing the lawn.
