1977 F350 Super Cab Camper Special

To be clear, by Super Camper Special I am referring to the extended wheelbase F-350. The spare tire was relocated to the passenger side, in front of the rear wheels, since there wasn't enough room under the bed with the rear axle pushed back.
I know for certain Ford offered the Super Camper Special with the Super Cab option. My better half's uncle purchased a Super Camper Special Super Cab in the later 70's. I don't recall what year, for sure, but I think it was '76 or '77. It was fairly well equipped and he carried a 14' cab over camper on it. No "special factory order" or anything of the like.
I had the opportunity to drive the truck, both loaded and unloaded. Just gotta love the ride a loooong wheelbase offers.

I originally bought this truck with a 14 foot Lance Camper on it. I drove it that way for about three years and then sold the camper.
I still would like to know what determines a Super Camper Special other then "it's the one with the spare tire holder." That leaves me to believe it was a term coined by Ford Truck enthusiasts not by any factory badging or paperwork.
Just my thoughts...

Hey zbad, here's a fun thread showing member's SCS's.

Ford called these 140" wheelbased trucks Super Camper Specials because they were specially designed with the camper in mind. The rear axle was pushed back, so much so that a spare tire wouldn't fit behind the differential and the bumper, also, the spare was tough to get to with a big camper in the bed, so the placement of it in the side was a nice convenience.
The only years Ford badged these trucks as "Super Camper Special" was '73-'76, after that, the "Super" was dropped, because Ford didn't want confusion with the SuperCab.

Here's the brochure for our trucks. Fun reading.

Can you tell I love these things?

Thanks for the help in understanding the Super Cab, Camper Special, Super Camper Special terms. Trucks with the name Super Camper Special, was that in the badging on the front fenders?
I have all of these "auxiliary transmission cooler, super-cooling radiator, heavier brakes and suspension, larger alternator and dual batteries." installed on my truck.
Thanks for the info on the inner fenders. Your right, mine aren't painted either. Do you know if this was an option or standard equipment?
I am putting the Beast up for sale. I have owned her for 15 years now and we recently sold my fiances' truck with plans on buying a newer 4x4 truck. In the process of determining what I have and approximate value. Once again Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have any pictures, and I know talk is cheap.... I used to worry about losing my memory as I got older. Looks like I don't have anything to worry about. I seem to be able to remember things that never existed.
I am going to see if any family members have pictures of the truck. I haven't seen the uncle for over 30 years and it's been 35 years since I saw the truck. I will post any pics that I come up with.
