I do know people who have put monos on the front and absolutely hated them. They can wrap on the front and chatter under braking same as rears do under acceleration just on the other end of the spring.
Were those Posies Dualflex? Posies is a traditional hotrod shop. I'm glad that I don't live closer to them. I can't believe that they would recommend something that didn't work? I haven't had any problems but then I still have the 12" drums. These springs utilize two springs that have a dual taper in twin axes on each end.
Several other folks have these springs installed. Anybody have the problems that AX describes?
That's not an "extra" bumper, AFAIK they are stock on an F100. I have them on my 56. Personally I am not fond of the mono or dual leaf springs. Lots of reports of spring wrap up, unhappy users. Worn out spring eye bushings shackle pins can cause one side to sag.
Thanks AX. I thought the "extra bumper" was stock and am assuming they will need to be taken off when I install the lowering springs. In their 2012 Catalog Mid Fifty shows them with a note that they will cause problems with lowering springs. Is that correct? Should I remove them when I install the new springs?
My order from MidFifty is supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. I ordered their Short and Smooth Front springs for a small block with hanger bars and shims. Also have ordered their Short and Smooth rear springs with adjustable rear hangers.
I hope that once the new front springs are installed I still have enough clearance to avoid changing my oil pan but I will find out soon enough. Looking forward to getting these upgrades installed as soon as time allows.
