door chime and cab light
Hello!
I recently (last night) repaired the infamous broken ignition actuator rod on my truck. Royal pain, but job complete. Yippie! The ignition now functions as intended (i also replaced the ignition cylinder while I was in there even though it wasn't broke). However, even with the keys out of the truck and ignition in "off" the door chime will be on whenever the door is open and the middle interior overhead cab light will be on whether the door is open or shut!
Any ideas where to look? Seems like a ground issue, but this wasn't happening prior to the actuator fix.

That strikes me as odd- it has happened to my mothers Explorer (minus the overhead light) and has confused me pretty well. My best bet is a connection somewhere. Now if you want to stop the chime, there is a gray plug under the dash towards the center of the truck. Follow the dinging- that is the connector for the chime. Disconnect it and no chime I did this to my truck because personally I couldn't stand when I was working outside my truck with the doors open so I could listen to music and hearing the ding ding ding for hours on end Let us know what the culprit is when you get this resolved- I am genuinely curious.
