2008 with an oil leak

Need alittle help guys.I was just changing the oil on my wifes 2008 Escape and noticed a oil leak.At first I thought it was an oil pan gasket,But its higher than that. Then I thought maybe an axle boot but it's also higher than that. It's on the passenger side about the middle of the engine right under neath the biggest pulley. Its a cylinder shape mold coming off the engine about an inch long with a bolt on the end of it.I'm not seeing oil any higher than that and seems to be coming from there from what I can see.

Is this something common with the Escapes? The truck has 55,650 miles on it and this is the first issue so far.The wifes first escape we traded for this was an 01 with 200,000.What do you guy's think?

Here are so half azz pics to try and give you an idea of the big picture. There all shot pointing straight up from the passenger side of the axle boot.

Mine does the same thing and I've been told it the seal for the crank. Mines been doing it about 100,000 miles. Since it doesn't drip enough to cause an issue between oil changes I haven't messed with it. If I could find some good instructions on doing the job I would probably do it.

They are pretty straight forward to do.

it is very easy to replace seal at crank ,if you have a puller ,total time to do job should be less than 1/2 hr and that's giving you a beer break as far as instructions go to Utube and do search for escape crank seal I think he does it in 10 minutes, I just replaced mine as it was running down side of pan and it would get oil on the exact same connector that was shown in picture. the only problem was the threads were so rusty in the pulley it was a bitch to get puller bolts to start. Damm I have owned many cars in my 60 years but never have I seen rust as I have seen on these escapes
