Titanium headers

Just wondering why one would need or want titanium headers.

Not really truck releated, but i was looking at headers for my thunderbird and JBA makes Stainless, Coated Stainless, and Coated Titanium.

the cost for the coated stainless and the coated titanium are the same.

what would the advantage to the titanium be?

thanks!

The very best headers are made from a material called Inconel which is quite expensive. If the headers were truly made from Titanium, they would be about half the weight and 100 times more expensive.
What you are looking at is a titanium "colored" ceramic coating on a stainless steel header. The only thing this gets you is a duller titanium look..
