Towing with a F250

I just wanted to get some opinions on towing with a 3v 5.4. It is a 2005 F250 short bed with the 3.73L in the rear single axle. The trailer in question is a 11k unloaded 14K max fifth wheel. Im only looking to tow it for about 70 miles back and forth once.

According to trailer life magazine. You are maxed out at 11K. So you wouldn't be able to load anything in the truck or trailer. Sorry.
You have a max gcwr of 18K

With only towing that far once you will be fine, Just keep it as light as possible, My fifth is 10,000 and I tow it all across the country..

no matter what as bigred said, you'll be really straining,
but more so in the mountains than on the flats ...

Hopefully you have the trailer tow package from the factory on the truck. You won't have a problem going slow...that engine won't let you go too fast!

Slowing down may be a problem tho.... take it easy and anticipate your stopping and you should be ok only going 140 miles once. Do it in the daylight.... your headlight might be aimed into the trees at night.

Do you the trailer brake controller and tow mirrors? If so then I would do it twice..but no more than that as you will really have to pay attention.

Why will he have anymore problem slowing down with his truck than you do with yours? They are the exact same axles, brakes, and trans as yours..

No he doesn't .... he won't have the Tow/Haul mode.... doesn't have a diesel nor the trailer tow package. Doubt if he has the Tow Command module in his either.

He does to have the tow/haul mode all the 3V gas motors do, and he never posted anything about not having the trailer tow package..The only thing he will be lacking is the get up and go that the diesels have other than that its the same...

OK...we don't have all the facts... I still say to tow it cautiously, but do the 2-way trip. Hopefully he has some kind of trailer braking system installed.
