what i have is 2 1948 and 1 1949 F-2 trucks. i would like to get one restored out of the three for parades. the last person i know who overhauls the flathead V8's passed away a year ago. does anyone out there have any contacts who still know these engines or parts suppliers?

Bryan, in my opinion, the two best flathead info forums on the internet are BillB's msn site and fordbarn. They are to flatheads what FTE is to Ford trucks. Somebody at one of these can point you in the right direction for northern shops.

Parts suppliers are everywhere. In addition to what you might find here at motorhaven, I'd talk to Red Hamilton at Red's Headers in Fort Bragg, CA. Patrick's in AZ is also a good choice as is Mac's Antique auto parts in New York. For general truck parts it's hard to beat Sacramento Vintage Ford for both prices and availability. All of these are on the web - type the name in a good search engine and the links will come up. Your local NAPA dealer will also carry a lot of parts needed or can get t hem. Also for F2 and up check with Joblot Automotive.
