1994 ford f250 restoration

Hi everyone... I'm new to this forum and want to introduce my self along w ask some questions... I bought a 1994 ford f250 w a 5.8l and got it for a steal... at least I thought ($800) on the way home it started pissing antifreeze... turned out to be the timing cover.... so I did the water pump. ..cover... timing chain and gears.... but it ran bad... so after changing the distributor map sensor and the iac valve it ran ok.... so I when for a drive and noticed while driving I lost my exhaust and cracked a leaf spring.... so.... I got new leaf springs....shackles and hangers.... and then realized the frame had bad rust..... so I took the bed off blasted the frame painted it w por15 paint put the new springs on new shocks and perches when I saw the brake lines were no good ....so yesterday I put in new brake lines.....and decided to tackle the rear brakes.... While doing the brakes I snapped the bolt at the top of the backing plate.... no big deal I thought I'll replace it..... from ford the nut and bolt are $121 yes 121 dollars for a bolt and nut.... which I did order it will b here friday.... I also found a dana 60 solid front axle w. The steering and pitman arm.... $ 400 because my front ttb is shifted the tire is about 2 inches out on the drive side and flush on the passenger side I have 33 inch tires btw.... so I need shackles springs shocks for the front now.... and a full headers back exhaust just to go down the road again.... As much a headache the truck is.... I have never had so much fun rebuilding a vehicle. ... so thanks for reading and thanks for the help in advance

Welcome to the forums. I am currently restoring my 93 F250 which also has a 5.8. I recently pulled the motor which only has 104,000 miles because 2 spark plugs broke inside the head. I figured it would be so much easier to work on out of the truck. I was so right and am very glad I did!

I also need to replace my exhaust manifolds, but I will be using headers instead and putting on better heads as well. You might break a few if not many bolts trying to get those manifolds out.

I found multiple causes for my truck to run rough that I NEVER would have found had I not pulled the motor. I am so glad I did! You are obviously very capable since you did so much of the work yourself already. You might want to consider pulling the motor and going over it thoroughly. It really is the best way to go about these trucks properly and will save you from a ton of headaches down the road in my opinion.
