Unable to program new remote on 2000 f-250

I just bought a truck that has power locks but no fobs. I ordered a fob on amazon for 7 shipped hoping to see if it'd work. I am unable to enter programming mode. I've followed every how to I've found so far. Only thing I have not tried yet is to disconnect the batteries for 10 minutes first. I called the dealership who said by vin it's got remote entry. I popped the hood and verified the fuse was in place and not blown. Does anyone have any other ideas?!?
Thanks

Do the power locks operate properly from the door switches?

Which fob did you purchase?

What procedure did you follow to try to enter programming mode?

What fuse(s) did you verify?

Yes the power door locks operate fine from both door controls. The fob was a cheap 7 dollar one from Amazon. Because i can't get the truck to enter learning mode I don't think it's the problem. I did verify the battery was good though. I tried turning the key 5 times ending in on. I tried it 8 times ending in on. I've varied the speed of key turns. I've tried it with door open or closed locks locked and unlocked and locked then unlocked. The fuse I checked was number 26 under the hood I believe. Sait it was for the remote system. Thanks for replying.

F26 supplies the power door locks, which have to be operational for the RKE to work, but that fuse doesn't supply RKE.

The RKE function is integrated into the GEM module which has a number of fuses supplying it. You can check all those and see if there's anything amiss there.

Are there any other known electrical faults or gremlins that you've noticed?

Ok. I will go through and check all the fuses tonight if I have time. I haven't found anything odd yet. I did notice that the eb rake light doesn't work. Have not tested the switch yet. Thanks for help.

Ok. Tonight I pulled every fuse inside the truck out and checked for continuity. All were good and accounted for comparing with the manual. I disconnected the batteries and took the opportunity to clean the terminals and add some battery acid to the batteries. Anyways, after the battery disconnect it's still not entering program mode. There was a 2 wire plug? That was disconnected below the steering column on the lower dash support (where the bottom push pins go that hold trim panel in place).
Thanks,
Brian

Why did you stop at 8 times, don't sop, key in ignition, on off on off until the locks cycle. If you get to 20 and it doesn't cycle, then you have an issue.

I've heard every number there is on how many times you have to turn it. When I worked at a Ford dealership I did many, but I never bothered to count, just kept turning until it cycled.

Thanks

I've got a '99 F250 SD and I've had the same problem.

I've done everything suggested both from the guys here, on FTE, to Ford Techs, to this manual and that manual.
NOTHING will get this truck into "Program Mode".

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but, the previous owner had installed a "Tuner" program.

??????????????

OP, IF you find out how to get your truck into "Program Mode", let me know!!!!!
