5.4 bellhousing or adapters

5.4 bellhousing or adapters
So, im starting to get some jingle in my pocket and im thinking of dropping a 5.4 in my 77 f150. If youre wondering why, my current motor (351m) ground up a piston (LOTS OF ALUMINUM IN PAN). Due to lack of ambition to rebuild a 37 year old motor, i've decided to update. I know where i can get a 97 parts truck with a 5.4 in it. I do not want to use an auto or find new driveshafts. I know it will be a wiring nightmare. I just got a couple questions...
1. Can i adapt a bellhousing to fit the mod motor pattern?
2. Is there a bell thats decently priced to bolt a mod motor to an np435? (Less than $700)
I've been searching for days and found only one bell and its around $700, and im not a fan of that price tag. If i could adapt the old M block bell or windsor bell over, i definitely would (i can braze and weld and what have you).
Any info is greatly appreciated.

I think someone does make an adapter to fit the MOD bellhousing to a standard Ford car manual transmission pattern, so that should work with your NP-435
Otherwise, Ford did use a 6spd behind the 5.4L in the F-250's that was also available in 4x4 ( I have been told ) in the early 2000's. Doubtful that many bought them. I've only seen one and it was RWD, but you could easily run a 205 divorced case

Anyways, the 5.4 is a no-go. I have a 4.6 (boo, right?) Triton in my 97 f150 (blown tcase). Felt good enough for a dd in that so it shouldnt be so bad in my 77 neither. Fuel mileage will be a plus too. And worse comes to worst, itll get an m5od, but im hoping not.
Also, i was on the pirate4x4 site and some guy has a 4.6 mated to a sb c6. He said he left out one bellhousing bolt and used a 300 six starter and has had zero issues wheeling. Are these bells that close dimensions wise?
