Dana 60 Crossover Steering Shock Relocation

Just curious what you guys that are running crossover steering did for the lower shock mount on the passenger side (relocation to the rear of the axle)?

I would like to retain the "stud" style mount since I'm only running 4" superduty springs. I thought about either fabbing a mount, the same design as the driver's side, or just trying to find another driver's side mount in a junkyard to use.

Any help is much appreciated....

I cut off the tab from the front and welded it on the back. Worked great.

Hi unless you are doing a hi-steer setup along with your x-over , shock relocation isn't necessary.

You must have an earlier truck. The 78-79 trucks have the goofy crossmember that is right in the way.

Who's steering arm is used in this picture? Also, how close does it come to the shock when turned?

BTW, thanks to everyone for the input.

It's north west fabs universal dana 60 x-over kit. I'll have to check the clearance on the passenger side shock...iirc the clearance doesn't change while turning. I installed my x-over in Jan/Feb '13 and I've been very pleased with it.

Awesome, thank you so much for the information. I ended up going with WFO concepts on the steering arm. The hole for the DLE to the center of the kingpin is 6.25". It looks like it is going to be pretty tight to the shock. If you don't mind, can you measure the distance from the DLE to the center of the kingpin on your's when you check the clearance? Again, thank you for the reply.

BTW, your Supercab is a good looking ride.

Does your steer arm have just the one hole for the drag link or does it have two?

Thanks for the compliment! I should be able to get the measurements here in awhile.

I'm running the WFO crossover arm. The drag link was way too close to the shock with 1.5" dom. I cut a piece of 2"x4"x3/16 on a diagonal and made a new bracket.

Love your truck Fordrealdrive!

Mine had to be moved with the WFO stuff.

Just an FYI on the WFO stuff rod ends. You might want to let them know it's for a heavier truck. The first set of rod ends were junk out of the box and they sent me a heavier duty version the second go. He didn't say much about it, but I speculated the standard stuff is good enough for a lightweight Jeep but my heavy a$$ rig they felt an upgrade was a good move. I had to cut the drag link down further because the drivers side was longer.

Well, I apologize if I steered anyone the wrong way lol!

I'm not familiar with the wfo arms, but my nwf arm measures 8" from kingpin centerline to drag link C/L and has the hi-steer tie rod mount at 4 3/4" from kingpin C/L . My drag link lines up almost right over the top of the tie rod and clears the shock by close to 2.5".
,

Wheels straight

Turned right

Turned left

Drag link in line with tie rod

Clearance between X-member and drag link

I looked for a long time before deciding on my x-over steer and my requirements were:
No shock relocation
No welded steer links and must use TRE'S
Steer arm must be machined with a rise for leaf clearance
Options for 5th knuckle bolt and hi-steer mount

Thanks Higbean! These trucks have attracted and distracted me for many years!

With the northwest fabs kit, I had to trim close to 1.25" off of my threaded DOM tube iirc.
