Replacing Tie Rod end / questions

Replacing Tie Rod end / questions

X failed NC safety inspection today, citing a loose left outer tie rod end. 2005 X 6.0 4wd 140K miles. Questions:
1. Replace both outer tie rod ends? Would seem logical as I don't think they've ever been replaced. Plus, one alignment.
2. Moog or XRF? I've read on here that XRF is (generally) preferred. "Moog not what it use to be," as someone said.
3. Tools? Tie rod end separator, pitman puller, Big hammer. Other specialty tools?
4. Replace inner/steering tie rod/drag link at same time?

Thanks in advance!

edit: Also, best place/price on XRF/Moog ends?

If it ain't broke don't fix it and I don't believe that anti Moog stuff.

I only needed the puller and vice grip to turn the end links due to some corrosion. No hammer needed. I replaced mine with Motorcraft since the originals lasted more than 170k, so can't comment on other brands.

Another question, are the front ends on the 2005 F-250/350 the same as my 2005 Excursion? What about 2004 MYs? Just making sure I'm match parts/part numbers correctly.
