Hello again to the group, just an update on my E40D. I've removed trans and disassemble the unit. I've found that the trans case is cracked at tailshaft end where reverse is located. Also, clutch friction discs have no friction material left, and are so thin they have sharp edges because of how thin they are. I've got a rebuild kit from PDQ and a used case from a local dismantler, I believe I will finish the build before weekend is over. And, I should beable to report how things turn out on Monday sometime. Unless I run into interruptions. Thx to the group and this site. Have a great day.

Hello,
I've been so busy lately I forgot to post what the end result on my e40d. The build went well, no problems other than the phone constantly ringing thru out that weekend. I re-installed the same electronics, and a shift kit, complete transmissions kit with steel, and friction discs. I had let all friction discs soak in atf for two days Before I removed transmission from truck, and began my rebuild. The transmission shifts great, it's been back to work hauling a Bobcat t180 around. And, it's dragged a 3/4 ton dump trailer with everything from chunks of concrete, and asphalt. To AB rock, n gravel. I've even had a flat bed with 14 commercial stack dryers on it behind my f250 and it just purred along doing that which was requested. Thx again to this group of Ford ppl, n this great site for being here. Keep the dirty side down, keep on truckin.
