NorCal Salvage Yards for 73 - 79 shortbed?
I am hopeful someone here can steer me in the right direction. Does anyone have a good source of body parts - beds in particular - in the NorCal area? I can drive further if needed.
I have a 1978 F150 FWD that currently has a flatbed. I want to swap it out for a stock shortbed. I have called a few of the salvage yards but no one seems to have older parts. My search on Craigslist hasn't been very successful either. I find a lot of longbeds but no short ones.
Here is who I have tried:
* Pick-N-Pull, Richmond
* Phelps
* Dorris
* Rock N Roll
* Turners
I have dual tanks, but he front one is aftermarket. I can either fit a dual tang or a single tank. Really, it's going to come down to what I can get.

Yuuup.. Stockton PNP is a good yard for PUs in general. Lotsa farm trucks in the central valley. The Windsor and Fairfield yards are decent hunting grounds. The Newark yard has lotsa trucks but there's zillions of pickers to deal with.
Shortbeds do appear in the yards but not that often. 'Gotta be patient. However, they do tend to be rather beat up like every other work truck.
Check PnPs online inventory.. the more inventory the better and the chances of a shortbed being there. Be ready... I'm gonna start packing a battery powered reciprocating saw from now on because I had to go all the way home for it in order to score a light bar off a tow truck.

Here's a nice dual tank short bed.

Have you considered a flareside bed?
