The DMV ladies were correct, it is an SUV. In PA truck tags (for a 3/4 ton) are about 3 times the cost annually than my Ford Station Wagon tags, the GVW and tow ratings are still the same just cheaper tags.
Are you not allowed to tow up to a car or SUV's limits in VA?

Same in CT and I'm quite happy to not have to pay for commercial tags. tow rating stays the same.

Yes, but it's a 3/4 ton, diesel suv.

In VA, truck tags are not much more money than standard tags. You can't have a combination weight of more than 12k# or so with regular tags.

The Super Duty frame has 6 cross supports total, with the last one being an 'x' pattern
The Excrusion has 7 cross supports total.
Body Mounts are different (obviously), the Super Duty has a bend in near the rear axle, the Excursion is straight.
The Excursion frme is thicker (laterally) near the B Pillar, the Super Duty is relatively the same from the first support to the 5th support (then it has the bend in)
...the list goes on.

Sure the front tow hook mount plates are the same, and the outside bends are the same (allowing things like plows to be used on both models), but the rest of the frame is different.

...and this is just the top profile...the side profile is a LOT different.

I'm not saying you are uninformed Brent...

I saw all that, Bass guy posted it but the post was about plows etc fitting in the front.

In Washington it's a Multipurpose vehicle. So not one of those horrible earth killing SUVs, so I feel pretty good about that.

The most idiotic thing usually revolves around the 6.0 diesel, and that I made the biggest mistake of my life buying it. I just shrug and tell them "probably".

In Illinois you don't even have to run "B" plates like F150's do. I run a car Vanity plate. They just consider it a mom-mobile I guess.

I get asked about mine all the time, always in an awe-inspiring way. Never anything negative. I get the most compliments/remarks when I go to the dealer for service. IT's always "nice truck" this and "i would love to find one" that.

And the last thing I will say about attention... is... we have been shopping for my wife a new truck... we have stopped taking the Excursion to go looking for trucks at the dealer due to the fact, at least around the MidWest.. they all want us to trade our Excursion in. Almost every single salesman tells me they have a list of people that want a super clean diesel Excursion. So now we take the Tbird to look for trucks lol

In the 5 years I had mine one kid at Taco Bell said "nice truck" and that has been the extent of it. It is completely clean looking but nobody cares.

Have had mine for 6 years now and the only annoying comment I get is my wife's cousin asking me when I'm going to sell it to him. I would laugh and tell him I'm going to drive it till the wheels fall off then repair and keep going. My wife finally realized that I'm serious.
