Question Cruise control

My truck is almost a year old and don't drive it much. 5000 miles so far. I used the cruise control this weekend and noticed when going down hills it will downshift to maintain 55 mph.

Is this normal ?

Also when the truck sits for a few weeks when I start it to back from the garage it seem to take a while for the truck to start moving. Seems like it takes time for the pressure to build up.

Is this normal ?

Thanks
Armstrong

The cruise control is normal... you will get used to it.

Not so sure on the tranny.... could be all the fluid draining from the torque converter... wouldn't have a clue why. My truck never sits that long.

Tranny is not normal. Check into TSB 14-0076 - Effective Apr 22 2014 2011-2014 Expedition/Mustang/F-150/Navigator - Delayed Engagement Park To Forward Or Reverse. It sounds like you got one of the units with a bum pump.

So I go to Butler County Ford today. I explained what the transmission is doing.

We'll guy's I found out this is normal for any automatic that sits for a week or two. I was told to just let it idle for a few minutes for the pump to build up pressure.

Now all I have to do is keep the carbon dioxide detector from going off, it wakes the wife.

I am sorry but you are incorrect. I have that exact issue and will be showing that TSB to my dealer. I have the cold "slip" as I call it and explained it to my dealer...he was going to look into it but hasn't gotten back to me yet. You can let the truck completely warm up and it makes no difference. I used to use the remote start to let the truck warm up before leaving in the mornings for work and when I got down the street, taking off from the stop sign it would not engage for a second or two and then it would. The transmission is stone cold and until you do at least 10 miles of driving...it is not up to operating temperatures. (Unless you are towing)

I would show the TSB to your dealer....it is out for a reason!

As for the downshifting when using cruise control I think that is a great feature....instead of the cars and trucks of old just continuing to gain speed when going down hill. Most of the newer vehicles I have driven have this feature. My wife's Infiniti does downshift as well.

Thanks gDMjoe for the TSB! (sorry I am in rep jail)
