Cabin air filter location

I was wondering if my 1998 F-150 XL 4.2l is supposed to have a cabin filter. I have found the airbox under the glovebox but can find no easy way to take it apart (especially since one of the screw heads faces up, away from me in a tight spot). It looks like the only way to do so, would be to drop everything including the blower motor. Were cabin filters standard or stock in my model truck?

Cabin air filters were a dealer-installable option only. They are very, very rare.

Thanks. Apparently, they aren't too rare for the parts sellers, especially Rock Auto which has many listed for '98. After I made this post, I did some google research and found a couple of youtube links on someone's post on Ford.net. These videos are supposed to show how to make the mod to the airbox with an exacto knife or box cutter. I haven't had a chance to view them yet but there does appear to be a place in the mold of the box with the same dimensions of a filter which you could cut out. You do have to be one hell of a contortionist to lay on your back and get your head up under the glovebox, though!

I have a 1998 F-150. Went to parts store for air filter and guy sold me on replacing cabin filter. Got home and saw no place to install it. Found this video on youtube:

With a box cutter this took me ten minutes. Filter fits very tightly- no need for tape or anything to hold it in. Easy job.
