2002 3.0 V6 Lower Intake gaskets?

Are there any tricks I need to be aware of, or any maintenance threads on changing the lower intake gaskets on my 2002 3.0 V6 Escape? Still having high idle issues when hot, and have checked everything else. I changed the upper gaskets when I replaced the plugs and COPs some time back.

Anything I need to be aware of, or is this similar to changing the upper manifold gaskets?

Thanks,
Dave

Not much more then doing the top manifold. When I did mine I had to loosen the motor mount to give alittle more room flipped the lower up and replaced them wiped the head surface down and bolted it back down.I left everything connected that I could .

Thanks, just picked up the gaskets this weekend and planning to do it this coming Saturday. Did you find any problems with your gaskets? I've got a high idle problem and trying to trace down an air leak.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning to do mine this coming weekend. Mine isn't running bad, just idling way too fast at times. Did the gaskets fix your issue?

Have you checked the PCV valve elbow on the backside of the intake? I understand they deteriorate and allow excessive 'unknown' air to enter the intake, causing idle problems.
Have you cleaned the IAC? Have you put an OBD-II scanner on to watch the IAC commands? That would eliminate or prove an IAC problem.

Yesterday, I replaced the upper & lower intake gaskets and all of the vacuum hoses. I tested the injectors while the lower manifold was off, for dripping/leaking with the ignition "on". Also installed a new set of coils I bought a while back and was waiting for the opportunity to do them, new PCV valve, cleaned the throttle body, tested the TPS, and installed new gaskets on the throttle body, EGR, and IAC. She runs like a new truck, now. The IAC is controlling just fine and it's idling at about 650 rpm. It looked like two of the gaskets on the bottom manifold were leaking, as the contact surface of them were dirty. 3 hours, start to finish, thanks to all the help and education here on the forum.
