'64 F250 Front Brakes.....wheel cylinder help

Guys.......I have a 1964 F250 and it is time to replace the front brakes. As you may know it has the one sided "half cylinder" that I would really like to replace. Has anyone replaced the "half cylinder" wheel cylinder with a more normal duel type cylinder? Seems like drilling a hole or two and installing one from an other year shouldn't be all that difficult. By the way, I don't want to install a disc brake kit.............If you have any ideas on what cylinder to use let's hear them.

By the way, should the front brakes have self adjusters? Mine don't!!

wheel cylinder replacement

Hi CTom, I drive a '65 F-100. It has always had the dual type wheel cylinders. I am like you, drum brakes. I wonder: This is a good place for Bill( in Ca. aka number dummey). He would know what year F250 would have used the double wheel cyl. like you want. Why don't you ask him??? He will know. He will be able to give you pics & part #'s too. Hope this helps, Cheers, Pete,

You'd be better off to ask Dave (garbz2), he can advise you how to make the swap from the 1963/64 single sided wheel cylinders to the 1965 and later type.

I have a '63 F100 with the single front wheel cylinders. When it was time for me to do a brake job, I couldn't find the single wheel cylinders. Without knowing any better, I replaced them with '64 dual wheel cylinders which bolted-on without any modification. They have been working fine for 24 years. Try searching for '64 dual wheel cylinders.
