01 Exp, Possible bad rear wiper switch???

The rear wiper on my 01 Expedition hasn't worked for years...but we don't really use it that often either. I'm just getting around to looking at it and would like some educated opinions on what to do next...

I checked the fuses and found that the 10a blade fuse in the engine compartment and the 15a blade fuse under the dash were blown. Replaced those and the rear wiper still will not work.

I checked the relays for the 'rear wiper low' and 'rear wiper high' and noticed that neither would click when the wiper was turned on. I temporarily replaced those relays with two known working relays...still no clicking when the wiper was turned on. I tried it with the rear wiper motor connected and disconnected just to rule out the motor pulling an excessive load and causing an issue.

The front wiper relay noticeably clicks when activated so i assume that the read wiper relay(s) should do the same. Checked all fuses again to make sure they didn't blow again...they are fine.

I cannot rule out the motor being bad but it seems as if I should get relays activating even with the rear motor unplugged. I am wondering if I possibly have a bad switch at the steering column. Maybe the little ring that acts as the switch on the turn signal lever is bad??

Anyone run into something similar before?

Thanks.

Tommy
