Thinking About Moving To South Carolina.......Tell me about your state
As the title says, my family and i are thinking about moving to South Carolina. I've already signed up on the state tourism website to get some basic info on the state. I'm researching the biggest employers in the state also. I heard that BMW is putting a manufacturing plant there?
What cities offer the best job choices?
What cities should we avoid?
I really want to move to Florida, to be close to the ocean and beaches, but i hear there are some nice beaches in South Carolina?
Do ya'll get much snow/ice in the winters?(I'm done shoveling snow and ice.)
What areas of cities should we stay away from?(For example, here, North Tulsa is where you dont drive through at night, unless you live in that area.)
We prefer living in our own house, and probably in suburbia. I'd love to find a house with some property out in the country. (Tired of having neighbors 15 feet on either side of our house.)
My current work commute is about 20 minutes one way. Should i expect longer times?
I'm sure i'll have more questions to come.
Thanks in advance.

More questions:
Do you know anyone that works for Google, in SC? If so, are they happy?
Do they have casinos and electronic gaming in SC? (Konami makes a lot of casino gaming machines for use throughout the U.S.)
Do you know anyone that works for BMW? I tried to view their job webiste, but it keeps putting up an internal database error message. I have a friend in SC that says they are planning or building a new BMW manufacturing facility?
Who are the telecom giants out there?
Who are the big home internet/cable providers?
What's the most popular cell phone provider?

First time I have checked here in a while.
BMW has had a manufacturing planr in Greer, Sc. for at least 15 years and are hiring new people. They are located between Greenville and Spartanburg, on I85. The airport in very close to the BMW plant.
Not much snow to be shoveled south of I85 but to the north may be more.
Charter is the Cable Co. in the area, which is reliable where I live.
It is Illigal to have or manufacture any electronic gabling devices in Sc., like video poker.
There are plenty of places to live, you can go to an apartment, housing development, or buy land with a home or build what you can afford. It all depends on how deep your pockets are.
I have AT&T for my cell phone and get good service.
We are about 4 hours from the beaches and there are lakes all around for recration.
The mountians are about an houre drive away, you could even live in them and drive to work.
I live around 40 miles south of the BMW plant. There are also lots of other jobs avalable in the area.
Hope this helps.
