98 f150 Bent Rear Axle
When I bought my f150 the man told me that it had been sitting up so the brakes stuck a little because of rust and once I drove a little it would free up. I knew this wasn't right but the price was so good on the truck i just bought it. It was just what I was looking for. When I took it on the hwy. I notice when I pressed the gas pedal down it slammed into gear hard. Well dang I thought, it has transmission problems. It didn't always do it and if you gave it gas right it wouldn't shift hard. It had its good days and bad days. The truck would vibrate around 60 mph and would shake shifting into 3rd and 4th gear. Lately it's been having bad day shaking more vabrating more. I crawled under it figuring I would be able to see something out of the ordinary when I noticed it. Looks like someone ran over something that slammed into the rear axle and bent it leaving a 1" press in the axle on the passenger side. I'm thinking this bent axle is causing other problems and will cause more. Any suggestions or ideas on how much something like this is to fix. I'm already struggling with money. Please all suggestions are welcome! Thanks guys n girls!!

I've starting looking at salvage yards for a whole rear assembly. Any pointers on how to perform this change out? I'm a kind of a google mechanic hahaha. I'm an industrial plumbing mechanic so I have a good idea on how things work but I'm sure I can use some pointers on how to make this change out my self
