2003 Expedition XLT...save or scrap?
Guys, as mentioned, I have an 03 with a cooked engine. Locked up solid.
Had a mechanic friend of mine check it out and it's just toast with metal shavings in the oil and all. I had picked up a 97 5.4 under the impression that they were close enough (NPI vs PI) and had hoped to put it on, but be doesn't think it will work. I have near nothing in this truck, and if I don't find some shining glimmer of hope, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to let this thing go.
Budget is tight, and options around here are pretty slim. If I sell it as is, what's a fair asking price, or what's a fair junk/scrap price?

I see lots of views, so hopefully I can get some insight on this. If I could find an engine for it, I would save it. I was led to believe the 97 NPI engine would have worked, but apparently that's not the case. I'm attempting to locate some better info on which engines I can pick from, so we'll see what emerges.

the NPI will work, but there are some things that need to be changed around.
there was a thread in the super duty forum where the guy went from a NPI to a PI engine and there was some grief trying to get it going.
in the end, everything was fine, but he had to get a different intake manifold
can be done, but it is not a direct swap.

See, that's what I thought too meborder. I had read countless threads here of people doing exactly that, but I don't have the shop to do it, and can't seem to find a willing soul to perform it, so I'm afraid it's outta here.
I pulled all the plugs last night, and sure enough, cylinder 8 was full of water. The moment the plug came out it shot up. It was the only one with any moisture though. Either way, I think we've resolved to sell it, with the replacement engine I had sourced. Maybe someone out there with a shop can get it done. I'll list it here as well as in my local outlets and see what happens.
Thanks for the posts tho guys! Can always count on our forum to get answers.
