I have a problem with my 2004 6.0. I just changed my turbo boots and egr valve. 96.000 miles. The boots were torn. Now I got the boots on and tight no leaks. But now I have a turbo lag and black smoke when I take off from a stop sign. Never had lag before. My egr valve was sticking and I cleaned it before I changed it. Is the EGR valve bad. Can anyone give me any suggestions. Thanks Billy

 

What kind of turbo did you install and why did you have to change it. Is it an 03 or 04 motor?

 

No turbo just the silicon turbo boots and it's a 2004

 

Have you code scanned the truck and do you have any way to read boost pressure? Have you removed your battery cables for a few minutes to reset your keep alive memory and do a turbo relearn? Be sue you code scan the truck BEFORE removing the battery cables or you'll erase any codes you might have stored.
