Current mileage on this truck is 62000km. Not sure why it's breaking down already. Front upper joint also has to be replaced on mine.
Thanks for responding, DamianL. I'm assuming from your use of kilometers that you live in Canada. If so, I recommend getting in touch with my Canadian colleagues on this forum: FordServiceCA. Here's a link to their profile: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Profile: FordServiceCA Send them a PM and they'll do what they can to assist.

I've been fighting this same problem. In the warm months all is good. When it gets cold out I start having issues. The issue first starts when towing or fighting strong winds in the low temps. The condition will get worse and worse till it just happens while driving around. I did find, if I made some hard turns at a slow speed after the truck sat all night I would get a rumble noise. The sound is similar to a bad wheel bearing noise. I was told that is the classic sound for a bad actuator.

I've had 3 IWE solenoids & 5 Actuators. My last actuator lasted less than 1000 miles. The good thing about having Ford change them is the 2 year unlimited mile warranty.

To test the mechanic at Ford told me they put the truck in the air so there is no weight on the front wheels. Then hook up the vacuum pump to test for a leak (the wheels are facing straight ahead). If there is no leak they turn the wheels to a full lock position. If there is still no leak, they turn the wheels to the full lock in the other direction. Mine always leak on a full lock right turn.

Any progress on this Krazybones? Im having the exact same issue.

Step 1: replaced solenoid = no result
Step 2: replaced both actuators = no result
Step 3: replaced check valve = two day fix

Now i'm back to square 1,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Sean! I reached out to the Ford Canada folks and asked them to hop in on this thread.

Hi folks,

What's your trucks' model year and mileage? I'll do what I can to help.

Crystal, Thanks for the offer. My truck is a 2012 with 70,000 miles on it. I've been working with the dealer (Webb Ford in Highland IN) on this and think they are doing all they can to help, I have no complaints there. I just recently had them put new actuators on both sides & new IWE solenoid hoping to fix the problems. Unfortunately one of the new actuators failed in the first 900 miles and had to be replace. If the problem resurfaces I will reach out to you for help. Thanks Jim
