Gear shift indicator

Yesterday I was driving my truck and noticed that my gear shift indicator in the dash has dropped between gears. It's a early 99. Anybody else had this happen? Is this usually a problem in the dash or in the linkage to the transmission?

It's loose under the dash close to the steering column. The video shows it (you won't have to do the entire project unless its broken)

I didn't watch the video, but there are 2 torx screws at the base of the column that tend to loosen up if your shifter is sloppy most likely it is here.

If the shifter is tight then it could just be the thumbwheel needing adjusted, this is behind the fuse panel cover on the bottom of the column.
