400 in a 95 mustang?

Well I have the chance to get a 1995 mustang rolling chassis/body kinda cheap and I have a spare 400. I'm wondering if anyone has attempted such, if so speak please. I also have a chance to buy a np435 (I think thats right) manual trans that has everything to bolt up to the 400. I know fabrication will have to happen all over the front for this to fit. But everything electrical will be basic, no heat or a/c, and i haven't thought of power steering ideas yet. This is all brainstorming and any advice will be taken, thanks.

That 400, is it a stock motor?

If you are planning to put a stock 400 and an NP435 in a Mustang, please just burn the Mustang.

Even a built 400 with an NP435...just burn the car.

For God's sake, just burn the car.

The 400 is stock, but won't turn over. And is half disassembled. I'm gonna build it...big. And that np435 is just a thought, I think the mustang might have its trans. I couldn't burn a car. I'd scrap one though.

400 w10.3 in a mustang

I'm not saying impossible, but I would think that as tight as the plugs are on the shock towers a shorter 351c w/9.20" block, or 351w w/ 9.50" block, You're better off building a 408 variant with a shorter block, and then shoehorn it in.

'96 Mustangs came with 4.6 mod motors. The '95 is basically the same car, so it should swallow a 400 with ease..

400s are about 2" wider than the 302, but 2 to 3" narrower than the 4.6 SOHC.

Now about that transmission......

custom floor pans and trans hump anyone? Or raise the body by 1/2" and short motor mounts/ trans mount. Would a c6 fit that body style?

C6 would fit better than the NP. Some mods might be needed.

Go with a top loader for a tranny, 435 will blow chunks in a car, its a work truck transmission no matter how you polish it, wicked strong & durable, but has no place in a mustang.

If you have the motor and are willing to spend some coin on it to make it worth while, give'r, 400's make just as much power as any other 302 or Windsor, just a little more time or money.

. 400's actually easier to much easier than a 221 - 408W... and cheaper...

I fit a 400 in a fox body (1979-1993) with a 2wd auto because i couldn't find a top loader wide ratio. For the 95 i got no idea but must not be big difference because they still have the 5 litres. I had to modify motor support and driving shaft.

resurrecting an old thread. I didn't get the mustang. It needed a little more than I thought and I had college tuition to take care of.
