2014 vs 2015
Hey Guys,
Can anyone tell me what the differences are between 2014 and the 2015's F-350's? I am looking for info as in the engine and drive train etc. not the bells and whistles. I am thinking of getting a 2015 around the end of the year. But the local dealer has some good rebates going right now on the 14's. So I am wonder if I should jump on the 2014 or wait for the 2015 as I was planning.
Thanks

1. Turbo Charger - The turbo went from a dual compressor single turbine configuration to a more simplistic and traditional single sided larger compressor wheel and turbine. Also, the new turbo has stronger exhaust-braking capabilities so you'll be able to put down more whoah when towing down a grade. You also get a user selectable exhaust brake button similar to the RAMs. Great feature and I love to use mine even when I have no load, really makes brake wear almost non-existent on the highways (note, I drive a RAM). I personally feel that this would improve the durability of the turbo given what I've seen from a dissected super sequential from the pre 2015 6.7's. You'll have much less shaft hanging out from the bearing cartridge which should exert less torsional force at lower turbine RPM's.
2. Stroked fuel pump - So you still have the CP4 fuel pump, however there have been some improvements made to it, the only one that I'm aware of is that the pump is stroked to supply more fuel since the engine is tuned to provide 440hp/860lb-ft of torque. There's mention of other improvements, but I've never seen anything specifically listed.
3. Strengthened engine block - The 2nd gen 6.7 Scorpion actually had extra material added to the engine casting, all this is to increase the rigidity of the block given the higher horsepower rating.
I'm not so sure about the torque converter as I've never read any literature on that unit myself.
Those are the major powertrain improvements I'm aware of.

Wait for the 2015!!
Like the guy said, a lot of improvements to turbo and fuel delivery.
I was talking to the best diesel mechanic I've ever heard of, he owns an amazing shop but that's another story. He owns several 6.7L and he has ordered the 2015 parts to convert his 2014, he said FORD isn't shipping them until today (June 30th).
With some aftermarket fuel rails and pumps he can add over 600 HP to the factory engine ratings!! Coming soon to a truck pull this summer. The block can handle it, so even if you don't do anything like this you'll be better off all the way around.
I'm saving my money now to trade in my 2011, Job #1, built May 2010.

Well guys you talked me into waiting for the 2015's. You made some good points, I am so excited. They are available but I want to wait until they have some sales on them. They are offering about $12K off list price of the 2014's. Since I don't "need" to get another truck right now I can't see giving up that extra money. The cost of vehicles in general is just getting ridiculous. I know they have a lot of technical advancements but still..It's going to be a loooong year. Thanks for the input.
